On a good day you can find me spending hours in the kitchen, in my favorite house shoes, cooking up some of our favorite nourishing foods whilst chasing our toddler around!
I have loved the science of nutrition for most of my life. My love of the science of nutrition goes back to 2009 when I was in high school. This is around the time I started making my own sourdough, kombucha, sprouting anything that I could sprout, and making bone broth. I always joke that I had kombucha brewing in the closet long before it was trendy or even on the shelves to purchase!
My self study of nutrition and ancestral diet patterns goes way back before my formal training at Texas A&M University. I have a bachelors degree in nutrition and then I completed my dietetic internship with Texas A&M.
I have been working for five years in a clinical outpatient health care setting. A big portion of my experience was working in the Central Texas Veteran’s Health Care System. There I gained experience in working with a variety and combination of conditions ranging in complexity. Some of those experiences include but are’t limited to: type 1 and type 2 diabetes, HTN, HLD, cancer, heart disease, IBS/IBD, GERD, obesity, PCOS, CKD, and low BMI. In more recent years I have worked with many women utilizing “food as medicine” for gestational diabetes, Hashimoto’s, or sustainable weight loss after their child bearing years. I have the knowledge and experience to help patients utilize nutrition as part of their approach to managing physician referred medical conditions. But, I also love helping people who are simply lost at trying to plan their meals!
Each patient is an individual. I believe it takes critical thinking and creativity to help patients reach their goals— two skills I have gained with my past experiences in the health care industry. I believe it takes time, grace, and patience to cultivate a nourished life.
